Detailed Itinerary (Flexible Plan)

Delhi stretches along the Yamuna River and brings together many layers of Indian history, from Sultanate and Mughal monuments to British‑era architecture and modern neighbourhoods. This suggested itinerary covers the main highlights in around eight hours and can be adapted to traffic, weekdays and your preferences.

09:00 AM – Pick‑up & introduction
Your driver meets you at your hotel, home stay, airport or another agreed point in Delhi / NCR. As you begin the tour, you receive a short introduction to the day’s plan and can share any particular interests, such as more time for temples, markets or photography.

Morning – Old Delhi & Jama Masjid
Start in Old Delhi, the historic walled city founded by the Mughals. Visit Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques, known for its broad courtyard and white‑marble domes. From here, walk or take an optional cycle‑rickshaw ride through the busy streets of Chandni Chowk, passing spice shops, jewellers and traditional eateries on the way towards the Red Fort area.

Late morning – India Gate & government buildings
Continue to New Delhi, planned during the British era. Stop near India Gate, the war memorial dedicated to Indian soldiers, and drive along the ceremonial axis past the President’s House and Parliament House, with time for photos at safe, designated points.

Afternoon – Humayun’s Tomb & Lotus Temple
After a break for lunch at a local restaurant of your choice, visit Humayun’s Tomb, a beautiful Mughal garden tomb that inspired later monuments including the Taj Mahal. Next, head towards the Lotus Temple or another key temple if it is closed that day, and enjoy a short pause in a peaceful setting away from the city’s noise.

Later afternoon – Qutub Minar complex
End your sightseeing at the Qutub Minar complex in South Delhi, home to the soaring stone minaret and surrounding ruins from the early Delhi Sultanate period. Walk through the complex, take photographs and absorb the contrast between ancient stonework and the modern city beyond.

At the end of the tour, you are driven back to your original pick‑up point in Delhi, usually arriving around 5:30 PM, depending on traffic and how long you choose to spend at each attraction.

Comfortable clothing, modest dress for religious sites and good walking shoes are recommended for this tour. Monument closing days, security restrictions or special events may slightly change the running order, but your driver will adjust the route so that you still experience the best of Old and New Delhi in one day.
